by Mendoza, Leticia Reyes, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2013, 72; 1523297
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to formulate a program, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant application to obtain funding for a domestic violence (DV) education and support group for Spanish-speaking victims of DV and their children who are involved in the child welfare system of Ventura County, California. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to build knowledge about the needs of Latino Families involved in the child welfare system. Support group models were reviewed to identify best practices for this population. The Verizon Foundation (formerly Bell Atlantic Foundation) was chosen as the best funding source for the project. A grant application was written to support the program at Jewish Family Services. Actual submission and/or funding of the grant was not required for the successful completion of this project.
