by Garduno, Martha Maria, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2013, 73; 1523175
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this study was to obtain funding for the development and implementation of an In-Home Support Program for Latino and Vietnamese caregivers of children in child welfare services. This program was designed to provide education of appropriate parenting skills, along with an increase of social support through community resources. The goals of this project were to provide support to caregivers of children age 0-5 years old, educate caregivers on parenting skills and children developmental milestones, and eventually reduce the incidents of child abuse. An extensive literature review and search for a host agency and funding source were performed to investigate the best way to provide services to Latino and Vietnamese caregivers regarding parental skills. The actual submission or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
