Using the theme "the truth will set you free," I chose to mirror Sonia's journey of discovering the healing power of truth. With this theme, it was necessary to reveal the affects of hiding or revealing this truth through the characters' fabrics, color palette and design. Artwork, music, and personal accounts from the time of Castro's rise to power in Cuba formed a substantial background of research to create my designs. Through costumes creating a visual of the theme, the audience views the healing that comes with truth and therefore experiences a catharsis.
