The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant to implement a support group for adolescent boys from divorced families. An extensive literature review was performed to investigate the many stressors caused by being part of a divorced family in order to understand this population. Since divorce is a growing trend, this population is increasing and their needs are becoming more apparent.
A search was conducted to locate a funder for an after-school support group targeting adolescent boys in a high school in Riverside County. The Stuart Foundation was chosen as the best match for the proposed program.
The goals of this program are to help adolescents deal with depression, anger, and loneliness; express their feelings; and reduce their behavior problems.
The actual submission of the proposal was not a requirement for this thesis project.
