Pablo de Sarasate was one of the first composers and violinists to advance the art of virtuoso violin playing. He has had a far greater influence in violin performance and repertoire than today's critics give him credit. This paper will analyze Sarasate's virtuoisic style and distinct violin technique, and explore how his unique virtuosity inspired several prominent composers of his time and beyond.
