Abstract (Summary)

This paper, presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Business Administration/Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Management, makes recommendations to improve Long Beach local arts and culture endeavors through a partnership with California Repertory Company and a marketing plan. This paper examines the history of arts councils in the United States while paying special attention to the Arts Council for Long Beach. This paper offers a brief overview of the history of creation and arts council practices. Additionally, Arts Council for Long Beach is reviewed based on their current initiatives and practices. Recommendations are made for the future Arts Council for Long Beach, creative industries and endeavors in Long Beach with the goal of forming a creative, culturally vibrant city.
