by Burkhardt, Brandon Nicholas, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2012, 59; 1517593
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this grant proposal was to fund and develop a comprehensive job readiness program for the homeless in SPA-6 of Los Angeles County. This area has one of the largest concentrations of homeless in Los Angeles County. Homeless Outreach Program and Integrated Care Services [HOPICS), located in Los Angeles, California, was the agency chosen as the focus of this project.

After reviewing the literature, a comprehensive job readiness program was designed by the grant proposal writer to meet their employment needs: On My Own Two. The Assertive Community Treatment Model (ACT) model was selected as the main intervention approach for this program. In searching potential public and private funding sources, it was found that the Weingart Foundation was the best fit with the goals of the On My Own Two program.

Actual submission and/or funding of the grant were not required for the successful completion of this project.
