Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to write a grant to develop a program that will address the rapidly growing substance abuse problem among older adults. The proposed program will provide assistance in substance abuse recovery. More specifically, the proposed program will aim to increase substance abuse services available to older adults in Los Angeles County, through the Tessie Cleveland Community Service Organization. The organization's mission is to help older adults achieve and sustain the maximum level of independence and personal recovery by providing appropriate support linkage to community resources, and necessary mental health treatment. Additionally, the proposed program promotes Senior Wellness by offering a service delivery style that ensures older adults will receive the most appropriate and consistent services possibly providing mental health and case management services where convenient for the client.
