by Becker, Matteline, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2012, 62; 1517585
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this thesis project was to analyze the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEIA). The analysis explored whether the policy benefits students with developmental disabilities and prepares them to be more likely to function as self-sufficiently as possible in society after receiving an education equal to their nondisabled peers. Scholarly journals and government documents were utilized in the research and analysis of IDEIA. The analysis indicated that this policy does not do enough to aid students with developmental disabilities to live self-sufficient lives after graduation.
