Smart phone based telemedicine system

Abstract (Summary)

Patients are not always able to go to the doctor because they are disabled and unable to transport themselves, or they live in a remote area without access to doctors. A telemedicine system, which allows patients to communicate with doctors, would be a useful tool for these patients. Smart phones would be an excellent tool to use in a telemedicine system such as this one. The purpose of this project is to develop a telemedicine system that uses smart phones to allow patients easy access to doctors. The system will utilize available medical apps and devices for both patients and doctors. The system will also focus on the use of the smart phones camera, so patients can capture and share images with the doctor. Images in the system are videos shared using video streaming websites with smart phone apps and photos shared using email or text messages.
