Since the twentieth century to present, the role of women in society has undergone fundamental changes. Women, today, has assumed many different task and new roles, becoming part of professional workforce and increasing level of education by aspiring a higher education gaining access to leadership positions. The purpose of this qualitative research consisted of examining the motivations and experiences encountered by three adult women, who are enroll in doctoral studies aimed at developing the skills needed to qualify as educational leaders. The questions that guided the study are: What significant experiences motivated these three adult women to enroll in the Administration Program and Management Education at the University of Puerto Rico, past the age of 45 years? What obstacles did these women face while they were studying the doctoral degree at the University of Puerto Rico? What type of challenges did these three women face while developing skills to qualify as educational leaders? What recommendations these three adult women provided regarding on how to make the Administration and Management Education Program more sensible to the need of adult student? The design used was a case study. Data was collected using the technique of an in- depth interview (Seidman, 2006) and analyzed using Wolcott (1994) analytical model. The case studies provide information about the life experiences and perceptions of each participant. According to the data collected from this research, the three participants were motivated to study a doctoral degree from an internal desire to transform their personal lives and accomplish self-actualization. Each participant expressed that their motivation was intertwined with their work experience, workplace, and their desire to learn, improve. Their leadership skills, and have the opportunity to gain promotions within the workplace. In addition, each participant expressed the importance of reaffirming their ability and knowledge to help others and to contribute in a more meaningful way to society. The three women in this research expressed their appreciation to the trust and support received from their family members, which influenced and motivated these three women to continue to achieve their academic goals.
